Annual Children's Christmas Party

by Anna Mae
(Washington Township)

When my grandson Joseph was one, now turning 18 today where did the time go, my husband Phil and I decided we wanted him to have wonderful memories of the Christmas season. So with the help of my dad, who had been Santa for 30 years, and a close friend who was a Vantriquest and had 4 puppets we put on a Christmas show. The vantrilaquest sang christmas songs and entertained the kids for about 30 minute before Santa's big arrival. The first year started out with 5 children but as the years went on Joey's little sister Heather came along and they would invite they're friends so of course the party grew to about 40 to 50 children. It was a wonderful time even the adults enjoyed the party. Phil would go out to the party supply house and rent a popcorn machine, hot dog machine, and a cotton candy machine it was like a circus
Santa would come with his bag of goodies truck or cars for the boys and dolls for the girls. Joey to this day has all of his cars and trucks, and heather has her dolls.
After we lost my Dad, our Santa, and phil we tried to keep the merriment going but the new santa had big shoes to fill. But the grandchildren, nieces and nephew couldn't get past the fact that it wasn't grandpa in that suit.

So we ended the Christmas party about 4 years ago it lasted 14 years and lot's of memories for all.

We always served the following:

hotdogs
Chips
pop corn
Cotton candy
cookies
Juice or soft drinks
