Phil 75th Birthday

by Anna Mae
(Washington,Township,Ohio)

I had 175 people from all over the USA at this Party

With this one I had to have help. I had it at our Country club.
We had the help of Wright Patterson Air Force Base, who let us borrow two of their large scale air plane models which were 7ft. long by 4ft wide. You see Phil served in the Mighty 8th Airforce in WWII and Wright Patterson Air Force Base had a party at the Country Club the night before. So, when I explained what I was doing they were more than happy to leave these planes. Many of you won't remember but we created "This is Your Life Phil Meyer". I arranged people from different times in his life to be present. Four people from grade school, three crewman and 3 widows from his B-17 crew, his sisters from Texas and Virginia, numerous nieces and newphews,a son and brother from Ohio, his daughter from Jackson hole Wy.and a grandaughter from Utah. To top it off I brought in Carlos from Florida to entertain, he was Phil's favorite entertainer.
Since Phil's favorite thing was to travel the world, for the meal I had the Chief prepare five food station around the room American,Italian, Mexican, Mediterranean,Chinese.
For dessert we had Cherry's Jubilee and Banana Fosters.

Best of all I pulled it off as a total surprise!

Since so many came in from out of state the next day was another surprise party given by the grandchildren. They had Hot Dogs, Hamburgers, and Brats. For sides thay had Potato Salad, Coleslaw Baked Beans and a very large Birthday Cake.
