Banana cream pie recipe, How to make a pie, Banana recipes, Pie recipes, Dessert recipes

The banana cream pie recipe is one of my favorite pie recipes. If you are learning how to make a pie and love banana recipes, you can make the banana pie completely from scratch or you can use a package of pudding mix. Both will turn out delicious.

Bananas have been a favorite fruit in many countries around the world. They have been the staple starch in many of the tropical countries. It makes sense that so many delicious banana recipes have been developed. Bananas are eaten deep fried, baked in the skin, used in breads, cookies, cakes , pancakes and ice cream; so why not a delicious banana cream pie recipe. Top the cream mixture with a homemade meringue recipe and you will have a magnificent pie recipe.

BANANA CREAM PIE

  • 1 Baked 9 inch baked pie crust

  • 4 Egg yolks

  • ¼ Cup flour

  • 2 Tablespoons cornstarch

  • ¾ Cup sugar

  • ¼ Teaspoon salt

  • 3 Cups milk
  • 3 Tablespoons butter

  • 1 ½ Teaspoons vanilla

  • Meringue or whipped topping (I prefer meringue)

In a bowl, beat the egg yolks and set aside. In a heavy pan, stir together the flour, cornstarch, sugar and salt. Gradually stir in the milk until smooth. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until mixture thickens and comes to a full boil. Stir and boil for another minute.

Stir half of the hot mixture into the beaten egg yolks. Then pour yolk mixture back into the pan. Cook and stir for another two minutes. Remove from the heat and add the butter and vanilla. Stir until butter is melted and pour into baked pie shell.

Immediately prepare meringue, spread on pie and bake until light brown. Serve when cold. If using whipped cream, cover with a piece of plastic wrap and refrigerate. Remove plastic and serve with the whipped cream.

BANANA MARSHMALLOW PIE

  • 1 Package vanilla pie filling (not instant)

  • 1 ¾ Cup milk

  • 1 ½ Cups miniature marshmallows

  • ½ Cup heavy cream, whipped

  • 2 Bananas

  • 1 Baked 9 inch pie shell

Cook pie filling using the 1 ¾ cups milk. Fold in the marshmallows, cover with plastic wrap and chill. Fold in the whipped cream. Slice bananas in the bottom of the baked crust. Pour in the pudding over the bananas. Refrigerate for several hours before serving.
